What our free assessment is and is not, who is actually doing the work at your house, and the rules for using this site.
This site is operated by Mold Free USA (“we”, “us”, “our”). Use the site, call the number on it, or send us a request for a free assessment, and you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
They work alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers what we do with the information you give us.
Mold Free USA is a referral service. You tell us what you are dealing with; we match you with an independent local mold company that covers your ZIP code and hand your request to them. That is the whole of what we do.
We are not a mold contractor. We do not inspect, test, sample, contain or remove mold. There is no Mold Free USA van and no Mold Free USA technician. Every crew in the network is a separate business — not our employee, agent, franchisee, partner or joint venturer, and not able to bind us to anything.
We are not a licensed mold professional and we never describe ourselves as one. We are not a mold assessor, a mold remediator, a certified mold remediator or a professional mold remediator. Several states reserve those titles by statute — in Florida, using one without holding the licence is a criminal offence (Fla. Stat. §468.8419). We connect you to licensed local remediators. We are not one, and nothing on this site should be read as a claim that we are.
What follows from that, and it is worth reading before you book work:
We do not charge you for the introduction and we never take payment on this site. You pay the crew directly, under their agreement with you.
The free assessment is informational. It is our reading of the photos you upload and what you tell us, and nothing else. It is not the opinion of a licensed assessor, because we are not one (section 2).
It is not an inspection. It is not a laboratory test, an air sample or a surface sample. It is not a diagnosis — not of a mold species, and certainly not of anybody’s health. Nobody can identify a species, measure spore counts, or tell how far growth has travelled inside a wall cavity from a photograph. Anyone who says otherwise is selling something.
Treat it as a starting point: what it looks like, what usually causes it, what a job like that usually involves, and whether it is worth someone coming out. The on-site estimate a crew gives you after looking at the property is the one that governs the work and the price, and it will often differ from what a photo suggested.
If what you send looks small enough to handle without a crew, we say so rather than send someone. The EPA puts the do-it-yourself line at roughly ten square feet — about a three-by-three-foot patch — on hard, non-porous surfaces, where the water has already been fixed. That advice is general. If you have asthma, allergies, a weakened immune system or any other reason to avoid disturbing mold, do not do it yourself whatever the size.
We may decline an assessment, or stop routing a request, at our discretion — for example if the photos show something outside what the network handles.
Mold remediation is regulated state by state. Some states licence remediation contractors, some licence assessors separately, some require both, some require neither. We hold no licence of any kind, because we do no regulated work — each crew holds whatever licence, registration or certification its own state and municipality require for the work it does.
Prices vary with the state, the market, the size of the affected area, what is behind the wall and what it takes to dry it. Any figure on this site or in a free assessment is a general range for a job of that description: not a quote, not an offer, and not binding on any crew.

Nothing on this site is legal, medical, insurance or engineering advice.
Where this site describes the health effects of damp buildings and indoor mold, that is general information drawn from public guidance published by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It describes what those agencies say about damp buildings as a class.
It is not about you, it is not medical advice, and we diagnose nothing. Only a doctor can tell you whether a symptom is connected to your home. If you think your health is being affected, speak to one — before you worry about the drywall.

When you use this site or send us a request, you agree that:
We may refuse service, remove material, or stop routing requests from anyone who breaks these rules.
You keep ownership of everything you send us. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to do two things with your photos and description: assess the job, and pass them to the crew we assign to it. That is the entire licence. It is not perpetual, it is not a marketing licence over pictures of your home, and it ends when the files are deleted — twelve months for photos, sooner if you ask (Privacy Policy, section 11).
We do not publish your photos, put them on this site, or use them in advertising. Ask us to delete them at any time and we will: Privacy Policy, section 10.
Do not send photographs of other people, of documents, or of anything else you would not show a contractor. You confirm you have the right to send whatever you upload.
The text, photographs, layout, code and design of this site, and the Mold Free USA name and logo, are ours or used under licence, and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may read the site, print a page for your own use, and share a link to it. You may not copy, republish, adapt or use any of it commercially without our written permission.
References to standards and organisations such as IICRC S520, the EPA and the CDC are descriptive. They do not imply that those bodies endorse, sponsor, certify or are affiliated with us.
This site links to guidance published by third parties, and you may end up on a local crew’s own website. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content or practices, and a link is not an endorsement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, this site and the free assessment are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that what is on it is complete or current, or that an assessment will prove accurate once someone has looked at the property. Some states do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or loss of use, arising out of your use of this site or of the free assessment, however caused.
We are not liable for the acts, omissions, workmanship, delays, pricing, licensing or conduct of any independent local crew. If you have a problem with work carried out at your property, your claim is against the company that did it, under your contract with them.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you for any claim connected with this site or the free assessment is limited to one hundred U.S. dollars ($100), which reflects that the assessment is free. Some states do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Mold Free USA, its officers, employees and contractors from any claim, loss, liability or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of information you gave us that was untrue, material you uploaded that you were not entitled to upload, your breach of these terms, or your breach of anyone’s rights.
Tell us first. Email [email protected] or call (866) 227-8190, setting out what happened and what you want. Most complaints are settled this way. Both sides agree to try for thirty days before starting formal proceedings.
That applies to a dispute with us. A dispute about work done at your property is with the company that did it (section 2) — tell us anyway.
We may update these terms. When we do, we change the effective date at the top of this page and the new version applies from the moment it is posted. If a change is material we say so prominently here. Using the site after a change means you accept it — so if you care about the detail, check the date.
